Indapamide is a thiazide diuretic that prevents reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the renal tubule segment. It promotes the elimination of sodium, chloride and water by interfering with the transport of sodium ions across the lining (epithelium) of the renal tubule. This leads to fluid loss and lowering of blood pressure.
