Coxicel belongs to a group of medicines called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), specifically a subgroup known as COX-2 inhibitors. Coxicel works by decreasing the production of prostaglandins, thus reducing pain and inflammation.
Coxicel shows similar efficacy to other anti-inflammatories in treating rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
